Case Study: Chris Pilbeam

Updated: Feb 18, 2020

We sat down with one of our hugely talented ex foundation students Chris Pilbeam to find out more about what he took from his training with The D Project and how it has helped shape his career so far...

What are you up to at the moment?

I'm currently in full time training at Northern School of Contemporary Dance, gaining as much experience as I can in a variety of techniques.

What was it like taking part in The D Projects foundation programme?

I remember attending every Saturday and having a contemporary class that would then merge into a creative session. We would practice a variety of ways of creating movement.

How do you feel it helped you get where you are now?

I feel like it gave me a great understanding of contemporary dance and a good basic level on which I could develop into different areas.

How would you describe 'The D Project'?

The D Project help young aspiring dancers to get into dance and expand themselves.

What has been your biggest achievement in dance so far?

My biggest achievement so far has been getting into NYDC (National Youth Dance Company) and having the opportunity to perform on Sadlers Well's main stage as well as touring to different locations across the country.

What have you go planned next?

I would like to get into a performance company such as Motionhouse that shows a selection of work that is very physical and active.
